What is a “Doula?”
A person trained and experienced in childbirth who provides continuous physical, emotional and informational support to the mother before, during and just after childbirth.
When a doula is present during and after childbirth, women have reported greater satisfaction with their birth experience, make more positive assessments of their babies, have fewer cesareans and requests for medical intervention, and less postpartum depressions.
Babies born with a doula present tend to have shorter hospital stays with fewer admissions to special care nurseries, breastfeed more easily and have more affectionate mothers in the postpartum period.
‘Sharing the Journey With You’
Woman-to-Woman Birth Care means just that, woman to woman. My focus is on serving you, emotionally, physically, and with information, to help you achieve a satisfying and joyous birth. I believe that serving as a doula is a calling, a service of my heart and hands, as we share your birthing journey. I will be your support along the way, and am truly honoured being invited into this precious and intimate life experience with you.
